ABOUT THE ARTIST
After a former life as a consumer electronics technician, Brian W Evans turned his experience with a soldering iron to the expressive nature of making sculptural form. Initially drawn to minimalist work, Evans' practice attempts to resolve reductive form with emergent technologies while testing a societal relationship to the everyday machines around us. In May 2008, Evans will finish an MFA in Studio Art with an emphasis in Sculpture from California State University, Long Beach. Prior to this he received a BFA in Sculpture from Arizona State University. Evans lives and works in Long Beach, California where he currently teaches art students about the pointy bits of tools and the peculiar habits of electrons, among many other things.
